In the Olden Days...

Sandy got a crash course today in what "the Olden Days" looked like... First off... dirt streets, which can get very muddy when it rains. Good thing somebody has bear boots on! And there would normally be big piles of horse doo-doo as well to tiptoe around!
All of the buildings were made out of wood which looked very cute. And they weren't very tall either. Even the sidewalks were made out of wood!
All Sandy needs is a holster and he'd fit right in! Back in the olden days, people had lots of arguments, usually over things like "snooker"...
Sandy is a little curious as to what snooker is... and while it sounds vaguely rude... it seems to be a cross between pool and billiards. Sandy would have loved to go in and play, but they had a very strict "no women" and "no bears" policy. Too bad! But next to the Snooker place (or the Nooker place) was the Bakery!! In the olden days, there were special places that did nothing but bake (with honey of course!).
Yummm!! Honey!!! Sandy would love to email his friends Jerry and Ben about the honey bakery but... the olden days didn't have email... so if he lived back then, he would have had to send mail at the Post Office! Which would have taken a bear, beary, beary long time!
And in order to use the Post Office, Sandy would have had to buy stamps... which would mean he'd have to go to the bank...
And withdraw some money... except Sandy doesn't have a bank account...
so if he's not careful, he might end up behind bars (heh-heh!)...
And then he'd really be in a pickle! He wouldn't be able to get any honey cakes from the bakery... or send messages to his friends... Better to just use email in the first place and skip buying the stamps!

  1. Great photos Sandy! We agree, mail from us to you in the old days would have taken weeks or a couple months, and that's no good! We like email and blogs, so that we can see your fun pics often!
