Halloween Costumes... the Fox takes Matters into his Paws

Hello again. Sandy Bear and Little Fox reporting from the West Coast (of Canada). We have been mulling over our Halloween Costumes and coming up blank... The deadline for Jerry & Ben's contest is Monday... sigh...

And then... Little Fox had a brain wave...

He scampered around the house and grabbed some plastic bags and toilet paper... Sandy looked a bit askance...

What are we going to do with this??? Little Fox had an idea...

Alright... first... we crumple some plastic bags and wad them onto the front of the bear...

Then we tape them on... And add some more to the back... and some more....

Alright then, almost done... (muffled grunts from the Bear).

What do you think?? All we need is... a nose.

Little Fox had seen the garden the day before...

Nice fall colours!

Ah-hah!!! Carrots!

That one will do (it's bucketing rain).

Now for a bit of wire...

And voila!!! A nose for our snowbear... (more muffled grunts from the bear).

What do you think? Pretty good nose, eh? we have the Bear Costume...

Sandy the Abominable SnowBear!

Complete with carrot nose.

And over here... well... you've heard of Jack in the Box?

Well... poof!!

It's Fox in a Box!! (eh... tin... box... same same).

Well, at least the Fox had fun.

Oh... and just so we have some seasonal decor... some gourds from the garden. What's that Sandy?? You want out??

Oh my goodness!!! It's hot in there!

What a mess... This was sort of a team costume effort... Little Fox's genius and Sandy's patience!

Halloween Gourds

Hello!! It's us! Little Fox and Sandy. We are back from London and waiting for our photos to finish uploading. It was a great trip but... we just realized that Jerry & Ben's Halloween Contest deadline is on Monday (eek). Little Fox isn't going to be home in time to do anything for the contest so... we thought we'd see what we could do here...

This year Jerry & Ben have a new category, home grown pumpkin/gourds... so we are going to see what we can find. Little Fox found this "blue" pumpkin. Oooh... it's nice and big, but not beary blue.

And Sandy found this other one that looks even greener...

They make good seats for stuffies...

After another hunt... we found... an orange one!

Little Fox likes this one cause it matches his colouring... sort of.

In some overgrown grass we found a few more... the grass is wet and the gourds are beary slippery...

Whoops... wipe-out for the Fox.

And another green one... we think someone is going to be eating a LOT of squash this winter.

This one is beary cute... it looks like a scallopini squash... which wasn't planted but... apparently the squash seeds we planted were not purebreds... so we have some weird hybrid varieties.

Sandy took Little Fox on a tour of the greenhouse...

Still a few cucumbers going.

And some hot peppers.

That's it for us! It's been bucketing rain and although we wanted to get out for some adventures... we also didn't want to get drenched.

Off to London!

Hello Bears, Foxes, Dogs, Mice, Hamsters, Zebras and Others! It's time... we are headed off to London and are all beary excited! Our trip started with a ferry trip to Vancouver on a beary soggy day. Of course there was a hot chocolate involved. And... I was reading Marlowe's blog the other day and he mentioned this cool app that lets you turn your photo into artwork... so here we go...

For those of us who have the artistic talent of a slug... this is kind of cool. And yet that is Little Fox looking beary cool and... Jelly Beanie! Check out my last blog for more on how I rescued Beanie Mouses' long-lost cousin from Mouse Island.

A Couple of Beach Surprises

Good morning! My goodness but I slept well in the VW camper van... much better than in the back of the SUV. I think buying the VW was an excellent decision (stuffies do make good decisions you know!). This morning we are off to the beach...

Oooh... there sure is a lot of driftwood here.

Maybe I'l find something cool for the garden or... wait... what's that? Do you see it???

Right above my head! Do you see it?

It's a dinosaur from driftwood!

This is a better angle. That is SO cool! It's held together with screws... what a neat idea.

I am Alexander, Dragon Rider of Pern! Except my dragon has now wings... hmmm... I am Alexander, Dinosaur Rider of Earth!

It even has a tongue... and that is a cool piece of wood for the eye... I think it's a T-rex judging by the tiny front legs...

Way cool.

Alright then... that was definitely worth the trip.

Now... it's time to find another camping spot...

This looks good... Right on the beach.

Did someone bring the smores stuff?? No?? Hmmm.... where's my evaluation form.

Time to snuggle in for the night...

And... in the morning... I could hear something outside... it sounded like... like... singing...

Oooh... someone is serenading the rising sun. They're singing... "My Bonnie lies over the Ocean"... must be Scottish!

I'm going to go and find them...

Ohhh... I think it's coming from that little beach shelter...

I think I see them... I think... I... oooohhhhhhh...

Do you see him??? Do you???

OMG!!! It's... it's... a Mouse!! But not just any mouse... he looks exactly (EXACTLY) like Beanie!

Hi! My name is Sandy! Are you related to Beanie Mouse??? Are you??? You must be! It is so cool to meet you and... (right... I'll shut up and wait for answers... thanks Mama!)

"Hi! Yes, I know Beanie!!! He's my Long-Lost Cousin! Do you know Beanie??? Oh my goodness... I've been sitting here for so long, trying to make driftwood boats to get back to Mouse Island but... they never float. I'm not a boat builder I guess. The tsunami was so violent and I held onto some flotsam and jetsam for ages and I was soggy for so long. Do you know where I am?"
Well... yes... you're on the West Coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island...
"Oh my goodness... I wondered about that! I guess me singing 'My Beanies lie over the Ocean' should really be "My Beanies lie over the Ocean AND the Continent".
You're in luck! I'm going to London soon to see Beanie Mouse... do you want to come?
"Yes, yes and yes!!!!"
***Stay-tuned for more adventures where we reveal this Mouse's name... and the tearful reunion with Beanie***
